leaves and other mulch

This morning I took some garbage out to my Darth Vader, you know, that
plastic cylinder for making compost. As I gazed about the small corner yard
of my boyfriend, I marveled at how low the piles of leaves, shredded
newspaper and shredded limbs was. I tell people repeatedly (every year)
that the piles of leave I beg from them will not be there in the spring but
I still marvel at how rain, earthworms, microbes and gravity depress the
piles. And it smells so good spread all over the partially finished
compost.

Keep telling folks about donating food, Adam, and I will keep telling them
about mulch. Maybe we will reach a few people before they wipe themselves
off the face of the earth but at least we know that we did our share. That
Mitzvah might get us a place in heaven or buy us good Karma the next time
around.
