| FYI - From the Camden News, Minneapolis, MN: For those who don't know the city, the Camden Community covers the northwest corner of Minneapolis from Lowry Ave. N. in the south to 53rd Ave. N. and from the Mississippi River east to Victory Memorial Drive on the west. McKinley is one of the communities in the Camden area. Saturday, 10/24 Community Garden at Cityview School dedication as a Sheila Wellstone Peace Garden, commemorated by an afternoon dedication ceremony and celebration with food, entertainment and speakers. The Sheila Wellstone Peace Garden honors Sheila and raises awareness about community gardening and violence prevention, especially domestic violence. It is hoped that through the garden, members of Wellstone Action Committee, the Sheila Wellstone Institute, Cityview Community School and McKinley Community can come together to find peace and address these issues. Through the Garden dedication to the memory of Sheila Wellstone, her voice will continue to be heard as an advocate for people. |
