scholarly literature on community gardens

Hello friends,
	I am currently writing a senior thesis discussing the unique
values of community gardens as forms of community development.  While
there is a plethora of academic literature discussing community
development, I can't find much scholarly literature about community
gardens.  Could you please send me any sources that you have come across?
	Also, another component of my project is to create a
handbook/manual aimed to help sustain the community garden that I
started up this summer here in Lewiston, ME.  If anyone has done such a
manual before, or even written proposals for city-support, etc.., could
you please contact me, or forward a copy of your work.  I can send a SASE
to anyone who prefers using hard-copies.
