Re: Lecanopteris


I had Lecanopteris carnosa (the Ant Fern) from Audrey Piggot in the 1980s.
Mine only lasted about 5 years . I seem to recall that it needs a colony of
ants in amongst its rootstock. I did try to introduce them but Birmingham ants
are a bit picky.
I have a large ants nest in a Osmunda regalis in the garden....the Osmunda
grows at a tremendous rate......is it my cultivation or is it the ants?????
