you are right, ceres. turns out to be a tropical fruit guy from miami that i've shared seeds and information with [never met him] who had come to the sarasota farmers' market yesterday [i had sent him a map showing where it was] and he delivered the plant on his way home.
the word, he says, is that the kariis is even better tasting than the mangosteen, just not as well known. he has several of them, but none have produced fruit.
personally, i find it hard to imagine anything better than either the lychee or the sweetsop/atemoya.
