One more note on my sale. Just as we (my sister helped, God bless her) were
about to clean up, a neighbor from a block away came by. She's a bit of a
ditz, but ok in small doses. As she was yakking away, on and on, she
noticed Slugger and said, "Why that looks like my cat, Bootsie!" She wasn't
sure though, which seemed odd, because he has definite markings to recognize
and I think I'd recognize my own black cats, or at the very least THEY would
recognize me. Slugger just totally ignored her, so I figured she was
mistaken. But as we talked, everything came together, and this was indeed
"Bootsie". (The name doesn't even fit - his markings do not resemble boots)
As it turns out, he wasn't *really* her cat. She said she fed him for a
couple of years and that he'd be gone and back for a week at a time. Even
in winter, he slept outside. No wonder he came to my house!
