Donna, bet you will remember your Christmas wreath next year!  Is it a robin? 
 They always like my front porch particularly behing the light right next to 
the door.  Swallows like the very tight ledge above the door and make a muddy 
mess all over the porch.  I usually cover the light with a paper bag & place a 
towel above the door.
    I found a sm nest in the Japanese maple today so I am trying to watch to 
see what kind of bird resides there.
