Plant shopping
Dear all,
I off from school this week, but the weather isn't cooperating a whole lot!
Yesterday was gorgeous, but I had a dental appointment and made plans to go
plant shopping with a daylily friend who can shop WHOLESALE. Shopping is
more fun than pulling weeds, digging walkways and dragging stones! I've
never bought perennials wholesale, so I was drooling! I'm going to send you
the list of what I bought for $145.00 (30 plants in all). These are quart
to 2 gallon sizes mind you. Everything was clump size! If you have any
comments on some of these plants, feel free to post them. Some are old
varieties that I decided to try again, while others are brand new. Here
goes:
Achillea 'Limerock Summer Light'- chartreuse foliage Achillea millefolium
Summer Wine (Yarrow) Aquilgea flabellata 'Nana Alba' (Columbine) Echinacea
Arts Pride (Orange Meadowbrite) Eryngium planum 'Blue Cap' (sea Holly)
Geranium maculatum 'Expresso' (Gorgeous deep maroon leaves, pale flowers)
Geranium 'Orion' (vigorous blue) Geranium x oxonianum 'Katherine Adele'
Heuchera 'Raspberry Regal'
Heucherella 'Chocolate Lace' (Maroon foliage)
Iris ensata Velvet Queen (Japanese Iris-deep purple)
Iris ensata 'Eden's Charm' (white)
Iris Versicolor (for my tub water garden- blue) Liatris spicata Nepeta f.
'Blue Wonder' (catmint) Nepeta grandiflora 'Dawn to Dusk' (catmint- pink)
Nepeta subsessilis Pelargonium Mrs. Pollock (such pretty tri-colored
foliage, an oldie) Phlox 'Nora Leigh' (another oldie, white and green
variegation) Physotegia 'Miss Manners' (obedient plant- white, lost this
one) Pulmonaria angustifolia ssp. Azurea (no variegation- royal blue
flowers) Pulmonaria 'Opal' (Silvery variegation- ice flowers) Pulmonaria
'Samurai'
Salvia nemorosa ' Carradonna' (touted as long blooming purple) Saxifraga
cochlearis "Minor'
Sedum spathulifolium 'Carnea'
Silene dioica 'Clifford Moore' ( variegated foliage- pink flowers)
Symphytum 'Goldsmith' (variegated comfrey- might regret this one as it
self-seeds) Veronica 'Royal Candles'
Veronicastrum virginicum 'Fascination' (tall and regal)
My friend gave me a beautiful pulmonaria called 'Redstart'. It's solid
greed with coral red flowers and one of the earilest to bloom! She also
gave me Viola 'Bowles Black'.
What a great day!

Every system is a tad different, but I would think if you are sending as
plain text to this list, it would remain in that format.
Of course, we will never know until you try.
Worse case, I can post it in a table on the web site for you.
