Re: knees/was musa acuminata ??

Supartz is an injectable, like Synvisc. It's supposed to lubricate the inside of the joint, and encourage the synovium to rebuild. Here's a website about it http://www.supartz.com It has helped considerably. I was able to take some out-of-town friends to the Atlanta Botanical Garden yesterday, and even managed the woods walk. That would have been impossible 3 months ago.

It doesn't take the place of arthroscopy when there's loose bits inside the joint, but it's provided welcome relief to a knee that's had osteoarthritis for more than 40 years.
My knee is much more stable now because I can keep it exercised. Unfortunately, there was too much damage from my ignoring it for too long before my arthroscopy in the 90s. (And of course from having had the initial cartilage removal in the 60's. Back in those days, they didn't repair torn cartilage, they just took it out. I've got two knees bone-on-bone. )

4 weeks is not excessive compared to years of pain from ignoring it. However, having said that, as your surgeon says, there's no guarantee either way.

I'm keeping fingers crossed that this year's Supartz injections

He said if I were working I would be off 4 wks and that would mean no
gardening for 4 wks. I though that was excessive.
What's Supartz? Is your knee stable? Do you have glide to your stride?
