I don't blame you. I'm in total agreement with Bonnie's suggestion about banning the importation of food products from China.

AS I was happily drinking a bottle of apple juice at work yesterday I happened to catch the label that indicated it was made from apple concentrate from about 8 different countries- including China. I seriously considered tossing the rest of it. I'm just a bit concerned that we don't really know what is going into the food chain anymore. And I realize that this could be a problem from a number of countries, but given China's current track record, I'm more concerned the usual about it. So, I'm off to the store (think I'll make the trek to the CoOp or Whole Foods) and see if I can find food made in the US and Canada for now.Theresa Daryl wrote:Forgot to add that Diesel has dry food available at all times - unless the dogs eat it first. The dogs also have dry food available 24/7 though since they're very old and Buddy has had so many problems, I've been cooking as described below.Something to think about- Buddy rejected his pouch food long before he got sick. Dreyfuss at the pouch food for a few days before becoming ill. I think they know what's not good for them. Perhaps your special food is tainted?d ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kitty" <kmrsy@comcast.net> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Friday, April 20, 2007 8:29 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] Kitten Dry Food>schedulingThank you Daryl. It is difficult to knowif we've seen all the updates so every time I see one from you I feel more confident that I'm as aware as I can possibly be. I haven't changed my regular cat food mix and none of the 3 boys have gotten ill so I feel pretty much ok sticking with it.Slugger, on the other hand, has been switched to eating pure gold. At $20 for a 4 pound bag, I can't afford to feed it to all 4 cats. The vet thinks he has a food allergy and says he has to eat this and nothing else for 2 months so we can figure out what the problem is. This is very difficult as he liked it at first but now is rejecting it and trying to get the other food. Meanwhile, Jack always wants what he's not allowed to have and if he gets hold of the $ food, he gobbles it fast and throws it up. I have to keep an eagle on on them at feeding times. So, how often do you feed cats? Once a day? Twice? I've always just left food out for them.Kitty neIN, Zone 5 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daryl" <pulis@mindspring.com> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Friday, April 20, 2007 1:43 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] Fw: Blue Buffalo Company - Kitten Dry FoodI'm cooking what I can for Buddy (mostly rice and chicken, and noodles and beef) , and Dreyfuss is getting some old Pro-plan mixed with meat juice and rice. Dreyfuss had quit eating it several months ago (wanting the pouch stuff that I was feeding Buddy), so I'm hoping its safe. I'm also hoping that the Friskies Dry cat food remains ok. The dogs and the cat both eat a lot of the cat food.I'm kind of afraid to make cat food, since they need practically perfect nutrition. Sometimes I wish I'd let him remain an outdoor kitty. I'm sure he'd be nice and full of mice and birds and not need much supplementation. But then, I'd be mad at him for eating "my" birds, or he'd have been eaten by a hawk. :-( Between a rock and a hard place.I wonder how many more pets were poisoned because people like me stopped buying wheat gluten products and the rice contamination wasn't known? And how many bought "small" brands like the Blue Buffalo stuff or the Venison products. Who'd think that anything that sounded that healthy could be that bad?d ----- Original Message ----- From: "Donna" <gossiper@sbcglobal.net> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Friday, April 20, 2007 1:16 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] Fw: Blue Buffalo Company - Kitten Dry FoodThank you for all the updates... although I wish there werent any to give. Not sure just what to feed my animals anymore...
