Re: pine trees

There's a Fargesia rufa & some other clumping bamboo that should be hardy here. Of course the ones I long for need restraint or are tender here. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Johnson, Cyndi D Civ USAF AFMC 95 CG/SCSRT" <cyndi.johnson@edwards.af.mil>

What kind of bamboo? Are you worried about it running out of control?

Subject: [CHAT] pine trees

We had 5 more pine trees removed today. They've been shading the west
side of
my house for 25 years or so. After one went down in a windstorm, we
decided it
was time. They've been afflicted with pine borers and were overgrown in
containers when we planted them, so we've known it was a matter of time.
Still
it leaves a big hole in our privacy screen. I have a forsythia on one
end and
the pines & hemlock on the front corner. Wide open to the neighbors
front yard
& driveway. We will probably plant a hedge, I'm thinking at least one
clump of
bamboo and a dogwood, too. We're going to the nursery tomorrow again.
A nice day and I had little time to spend outside. Working on a class
for
tonight on emergency 72 hour kits and a newsletter. Looking forward to
tomorrow. Hope the weather holds.
