I have a Ssiebold Hosta surrounded by Lamium mac. 'Beacon's Silver'.  The 
Lamium tends to crawl, but one stem met up with the base of the Hosta and 
traveled upwards, blooming above the H's leaves. Quite a pleasant surprise.
