Jim,
You may not believe this, but daylily people call Florida "Daylily Mecca"!
Many of our major hybridizers are from Florida, so I know that they grow
well there.
I quote the Region 12 Website:
"Florida has one of the best climates for growing and breeding daylilies in
the world. It is no wonder then that many of the new flower forms, colors,
patterns, and robust plants are developed here by the many talented
hybridizers. If you want to see state-of-the-art daylilies and daylilies
grown to perfection, Florida is the place to do it."

You should stay away from growing daylilies unless you are prepared for another addiction!

Great daylilies, Chris. I've always been very fond of them, and have tried
them a few times here. But they seem ill-equipped to compete in this
environment and so become a high-maintenance plant. Maybe I should try them
one more time--but this time in pots. Anyone growing them in pots? Or will I
be the lead investigator on a research project?
