Re: Plumeria Cuttings

Hi Andrea

I have a couple of Plumeria that I have been growing for a few years now. Take the cutting, sink it deep enough so that it stands on it's own. Water it in once and then don't water again until you see leaves. If the cutting produces flowers before leaves you should cut the flower stalk off. Plumeria have very fine roots and overwatering the cutting will rot it before it has a chance to root.

In the winter allow it to go dormant in a dark area and give it zero water...none at all. When spring arrives put it outside again and water and feed it. It's water dependency will depend on the number of leaves it has.

Mine are blooming finally. It's been a very cold summer here.

Subject: [CHAT] Plumeria Cuttings

Jim in particular, I want to take cuttings from my three plumerias that
I have. They are HUGE and I doubt they will like the indoor Illinois
winters so instead of dragging the whole thing with me, I thought I take
cuttings.

I know you sent me some on the past of the Rubra but they didn't make it.

How long should I make the cuttings and how deep should I plant them? (I'm only using vermiculite)
Should I use rooting hormone? How many cuttings should I take? Just below a node as usual?
THANKS!
A
