What I meant by focus group was simply input. Not something to flood a system. I just thought he could somehow keep track of which plants were plugged into the "search for a supplier" field.

Focus Groups are great, but they also flood the system with ads that
promote what they want to sell. I believe I just read somewhere that
Proven winners is coming out with 500 new plants which will bleed into
the markets within the next two years.. sigh. how do you make choices
and worse yet, why are they coming out with that many.... flooding the
market is gonna be a killer to many. I will say, they do know how to
advertise their featured plants...


My local nursery does listen to what the customers want. If I leave my
list of what I am looking for, he seems to get them. I am sure he is
basing that on how many people are looking for a certain plant, not just
me. Speaking of which, tomorrow night he is having one of his 'evening
on the Prairie' events for the regular customers. Besides the sale, he
is advertising entertainment and refreshments. He has some speakers with
limited time so you don't get bored. A special thank You from the owner,
hardscapes to create Outdoor rooms, Illuninate your outdoor rooms, time
with representatives to answer specific questions and an night tour of
the Ruins Gardens. Should be interesting if he does what he usually
does.


Anyone got a specific question for the reps?

Hmmm...it seems to me that this could be the...what do they call it when
marketing people...oh yeah - Focus Group - to help determine plants to be
carried by BVN. The more people who come looking for a particular plant
will help him make selections for his catalog. You might as well carry the
plants people want. I already want half the items in his catalog, but I do
know how hard it can be to make selections for the next season that you can
be sure of selling.

That is a great service. Need I tell everybody how many times I've seen a
great looking plant and then spent an inordinate amount of time trying to
find where it acquire it?

our site uses to much bandwidth and disk space.

If anyone has any ideas or comments, please let me know or share them
with the list.

P.S. I don't want to hear talk of donations and stuff. :) Although
appreciated, it would just be a temporary fix. We either need
more (self-sufficient) customers, a sponsor to pay for the site,
or some other plan.
