Re: what's everyone ordering/planting for Fall?

I just ordered a 'Moses Fire' Daylily from Park Seed-couldn't resist the color and it's a double.

Kitty - you reminded me - I did order some more muscari latifolium (sp?) -
the two-toned jobs. That is one bulb that does repeat reliably here.

Didn't mean to say it required the services of a tree guy--only that when
he was here and hauling stuff away, we'll have him add that to the pile.
Actually, it's about 3 feet tall by, maybe, 3-4 feet in other
dimensions--maybe a quarter of a green-cycle barrel in mass--and growing in
clay... yep, good job for someone younger than moi.

A Silver mound needs to be removed by a tree guy? Good gravy, how big do
they get there? Here they just grow to small 12 inch mounds that eventually
rot out in the middle.

BTW, you reminded me, I did order some bulbs - Brodiaea, 3 kinds of
Lilies, 2 kinds of Alliums, Anemone, Snakeflower, and a fall blooming
species daylily.

We'll be planting saffron crocus as soon as the bulbs arrive and the
tree guys rip out a couple of large ceanothus... probably a couple of
weeks. Then later in the month, we'll be planting three black currants
from Whitman Farms [haven't ordered, but talked to Lucile and will
pick up]. Tree guys are also scheduled to rip out a large Artemisia
[silver mound]. That will be replaced by a Spartan blueberry next
spring.

Just placed my High Country Gardens order for the fall. Everything
that
summer/drought killed is getting replaced w/ a salvia (Wild Thing,
Ultra
Violet or West TX Cobalt) and replacing a couple lavenders (England)
and one
artemisia (Powis Castle). Thank God for salvias, my yard would be a
sorry
looking place w/out them. I guess they don't carry the germander
sage any
more. Too bad, I have 3 that have done beautifully when most things
in pots
just up and croak. And the hummers & bumble bees just love them, but
they
like all the salvias, so they're less picky than I am.

Anyone else planting anything interesting this fall??
