Re: tradition

Many years ago, when we lived in Riverside, Calif., an article in the newspaper said there'd be foods sold at the Cinco de Mayo celebration in a certain part of town. They named tacos, enchiladas, tamales, and something I'd never heard of. My mouth watered, so I insisted we go there to taste this unknown dish. My disappointment was very profound when I learned that this was not a food, but an eggshell filled with confetti and the end sealed over with thin paper. One was to crack the shell against another's head, scattering confetti. I'm still burned about this.

Please tell me polpetti and braciole are foods. What kind of foods? Thank you, Margaret L

My Louis was also 100% Sicilian; his grandparents were from Sciacca
originally. I learned to cook some of his mother's specialties, and my
polpetti are THE BEST. He used to talk about Thanksgiving at their house
with lasagna and braciole, followed by the turkey and all the trimmings.
