Thanks for a measured response, Claire. Historically when creatures' numbers get out of balance with their environment, a catastrophic disease arrives to cleanse the gene pool. That disease may be here, in the form of Chronic Wasting Disease, or CWD. Oddly it seems to have started in the West, but I don't think it will be long before it's spread to the east. It's undoubtedly not a nice way to go, since it's a variant of mad cow disease, but nevertheless, they go. Margaret L
should not be drawn to this but would comment that I fence 1 and 1/2 acres. I own a great many more than that. The rest is free to all wildlife but the balance is upset.
