I remember the first class I took was Soils. I chose it because it had the
lowest Course#, so I assumed I was to start there (from the ground up as
they say...) Needless to say, this was quite a struggle for a
science-impared returning student (had been out of school about 10 yrs) I
plugged away at it; went to the bookstore and got books like; "Chemistry
the Easy Way" and "Physics made Simple" to help me figure out what they
were getting at. I pulled through with a surprisingly good grade and when
I called to sign up for my next course, I told them I hoped it wouldn't be
as hard as Soils. They couldn't believe I started with that as it is one
of the more difficult. They said the low Course # meant nothing. But you
know, learning physics as applied to something I'm actually interested in
is a whole nother ball game compared to when I took it in high school and
couldn't have cared less.
