RE: herbs and spices; OT
Coriander is the seed of the plant, not from the leaves- therefor it is a
spice. Cilantro is an herb and it comes from the leaves of the same plant.
Does this help?

Jim, coriander is a spice, and it comes from a herbaceous plant. What's
wrong with Elizabeth Lambert Ortiz's definition? She used it in her
excellent book, "The Encyclopedia of Herbs, Spices and Flavorings." Or is
there a preference for list-fabrication of definitions? Margaret L
