Never thought of the yaupan holly as a hedge, but why not? The dwarf yaupan variety "Schellings" makes a very nice but low hedge. Dense and really attractive--but it seems to top out at about 3 feet. It's often used here for defining formal gardens, such as rose or camellia gardens.

Well, I thought about that, but don't like the sharp leaves. I wonder if a Yaupan Holly might do the same thing? It's leaves don't have sharp edges?
I have some Holly shrubs in the front of my house (not planted by me) and the get stuck with those sharp leaves all the time when I'm gardening...OUCH.
