According to Howard Garrett, we don't have JB's here in Texas. This
thing was big - almost quarter size. JB's aren't that big are they?

I think those are the Japanese beetles Pam. Scarab beetles are usually
smaller than that I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.
