Your son in law reminds me of a friend I have, if he's still alive, or had, if he's not. Last time I saw him, he was obese beyond belief. He always said "I don't eat anything that grows in the ground or lives in the air." It was a funny line when he was 160 pounds in college, but not when he was 300 [and too large to fit in the back seat of our Chrysler].

I agree that its a lifestyle growing up issue. My son in law doesn't eat vegetables, period. None. He eats meat, potatoes, bread, and macaroni and cheese. My daughter grew up on a varied diet, but maintaining it is hard under those circumstances (you should see her meal wish list when she comes to visit me!). I worry about the grandbaby, though, because even though her mother is introducing vegetables, kids are observant and she will eventually notice dad's diet.

I'm glad to hear that someone else does eat vegetables. I was beginning to feel peculiar about it.
No, I realize I'M the peculiar one. I think a lot has to do with the way
you are raised and the life you lead. I grew up with a choice of canned
peas, corn, green beans, and spinach. Those were the only veggies I
knew. Carrots, onion, and celery were only parts of stew; I didn't
really think of them as vegetables. Kitty
