Must have been the same thing that attracted my children to the padded dashboard of my 1970 BMW. They bit great chunks out of it before they were found out. They said it felt good. They were 7 and 3 at the time.

Well, ok, not the WHOLE dashboard. The center part between the glove box
and the radio. He didn't chew up any instruments, just the padded area.
This was an old Nova I used while i kept my good car garaged. We rarely
took the dog in good cars.

That's pretty scary. So far my cats haven't ingested anything too
terrible. I had a friend once whose Doberman ate the fiberglass
insulation off the garage wall. I also once had a German Shepherd that
ate the dashboard of my car, but he showed no signs of illness from it.
