Thanks for the site Barb. I'm on dial-up and it didn't take long to go
through the pics. It's quite the example of safety laws run amok. My
paper mentioned that the task of getting a new tree was complicated by
the additional requirement that a fire marshall had to be present when
they cut the tree down, to ensure "freshness". ?? Did they think sparks
from the chain saw would set it on fire? Didn't the people writing the
law realize that, even if the freshness at cutting time was ensured by
the presence of a marshall, following the cutting with a thorough drying
with commercial fans and spraying it with fire retardent, would sort of
un-fresh it?
