When my dad got out of the service he was trained to fix radios and tvs and such. We had a used tv when I was little in the 50s. We always had a tv and I've always had one, but I don't feel I've ever been a 'slave' to it. My dad used to watch 2 tvs at a time with a radio going. He'd walk in and turn it on with no intention of staying in the room. I hated that. However, I like to watch a show each night to wind down from the day. It relaxes me. I like stories and I like to be entertained a bit. As to sports, I can understand people liking games even though I don't. But I really hate the way it's glorified above all else. Schools drop arts programs so they can spend more on athletics. I just don't like it.

I hardly ever watch any television except for football games, and I haven't watched too much of that this year since I can't knit any longer. I have to have something to keep my hands busy while I watch. Chet watches the news each evening, but in his downstairs office. If there is a Mystery on PBS I may watch it, but most of the series I used to enjoy have changed or are no longer showing. I don't much like the new Miss Marple. I sometimes think I am out of touch with the world, but then I feel maybe I don't really want to be in touch. But I do love a good football game - always have.
