Still here in the high desert. Both husband and I retired this year and are adjusting to the lower income...did lots of math beforehand to make sure we could actually afford to go out in our mid-50s - but so far all is well. We would really like to move out of California for tax reasons but can't decide where to go.  Cave Creek in Arizona (near Scottsdale) has a great equestrian lifestyle and gorgeous low desert, but it's a high cost area and I think the large vegetable garden I crave would be out of the question.  Looked at a couple other places but felt pretty "meh" about them. So we'll see. We are exceptionally good at procrastination and indecision and have a high tolerance for the status quo.  :-)
While we dither about it I will be making some moves to reduce water use in the front garden, have to see what plants I can get on the cheap.

I thought it would be good on this last day of the year if everyone could check in and let us all know how you are doing.  
I am in Gainesville, Ga.  We moved here to be closer to our daughter and 2 of our granddaughters.  We are renting a VRBO on Lake Lanier, beautiful place to live but we can’t stay after June.  It gets to expensive!  Any advice on where we should go next?  My husband just has to live near an airport so he can fly out every week.  Atlanta has been great but traffic to the airport is more than he wants again.  We have been thinking around Bastrop, Texas and he could fly out of Austin.  Any advice on that one?  We have lived in Houston and was great being near my sister and brother but the traffic to the airports was hard on Don.  I would love your advice, there are so many great places to live!
