RE: birds and other critters


Indeed, Marge!  But don't they look just too cute stuffing those cheek
pouches full of your best bird seed?  Even though the back hill is riddled
with their tunnels and I'll have to clean their nests and stored seed off
the lawnmower in the spring, I just have to admire their appearance and
their determination.  I couldn't hurt one if I wanted to.  I don't worry too
much about the back hill any more now that it is completely, thickly ivy
covered.  I don't have to worry about tipping the mower to mow it and it
still looks pretty doggone good! :>D

No kidding, Jim...never saw one when I lived in SF.  Are they the
same species as in the east?  Wonder why not in the burbs?  Here they
are very adapted to urban and suburban life.  Sometimes think I
should just have a funnel and pour bags of birdseed down their holes;
save them a lot of effort:-)
