or "jungle jim." remember that old comic strip? probably not. it was pre-wwii, i think. a companion piece to "terry and the pirates" and "tim tyler's luck." our popular culture had lots of romantic [and in retrospect, peculiar] notions about asia. not entirely unlike our understanding of the middle east today.

but, don't have a pith helmet, do have a machete, and don't need mosquito repellent [too early in the year; maybe in late july].
