Stevie Ray making catcalls.......

I've not heard the newer albums from Jonny Lang.  He supposedly switched
gears for awhile and the descriptions didn't sound like something I wanted
to buy.  Those may be what you're referring to.  But if you go back to Lie
to Me, 1996, he was more truly a blues singer/player.
