Judy, those pictures are priceless!
Early in my participation in CHAT I reported my experience with
continual loss of white plastic stakes giving planting dates of seeds,
botanic names, and so on, only to discover a family of Florida Brush
Jays were pilfering them.
I recall an old PBS "Nature" program that featured a bird of the low
desert that decorated his nest with all sorts of glittery stuff--broken
mirror pieces, broken glass, bottle caps, plastic stuff--to attract
females.
Can't help but think there is some sort of mating ritual that is
enhanced by the glitter [or whatever] that nickel-plated coins produces.
But the pictures are really great stuff.
