Re: planning trip to Calif

Uh, yeah! Only about 7 hours by car! We're a big state. No comments from the Texas people. Well shoot that's disappointing. Why are you landing in Sacramento? That's a long way from Santa Barbara. Tricia you will find that there are enough botanical wonders right around SB to keep you busy for weeks. It is in Sunset zone 24 from there to San Diego. Almost perfect climate. The only thing they lack is...water! They were one of the first desalinization plants in the country. Dry as a bone. But, they can grow any kind of tropicals you can name.

I think I've mentioned this before but have you folks noticed that we don't have a representative from the second most populous area of the country? We have four people from Tenn. but nobody from Los Angeles or really southern California at all. Pretty amazing when you consider that somewhere around 30+ million people live there.

Ok- well what kinds of gardening things are you interested in? And how far are you considering driving? And, where is Monticito? (surely you don't mean Montecito outside Santa Barbara??)

I am working on planning a trip to Calif in April for 10 days. We will fly in and out of Sacramento. We will rent a card so that we can drive to my sisters place in Monticito.
I was hoping some of you could recommend some great gardening things to see and do while we are there.
This is a trip for our 20th anniversary.
Thank you in advance for any help!
