I too have a side by side that isn't very wide but I love my ice in the door. I still have my old side by side in the garage so I use that for more freezer room and the fridge for drinks. When we moved here it was the wrong color and not worth much so we kept it. I love having the extra room at holiday time too. I couldn't do without the crushed ice in the door...are we spoiled or what? Funny what we get used to that once was a luxury and now I think of it as a "have to have".

I have always preferred the freezer on the bottom. The fridge is opened much more often than the freezer and I don't see why one would want to bend down to peer into it every time. I've always disliked side by sides for the same reasons you mentioned. I understand they are making extra wide s by s these days, but you'd have to have a very large kitchen to accomodate it.Kitty neIN, Zone 5----- Original Message ----- From: "Cathy Carpenter" <cathy.c@insightbb.com>To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Saturday, February 24, 2007 11:29 AM Subject: Re: [CHAT] Washer/dryerI have a "side by side" refrigerator-freezer and do not like that style at all. The freezer is very narrow and I have difficulty storing stuff efficiently because of it. Next time the freezer will be on the top or bottom... and I might even spring for a chest freezer! The line into the ice maker is all rusted and falling apart. It doesn't seem to keep things well in the crisper. So- yeah- any advise is welcome. I'm looking at one of the LG "french door" models- which are expensive, but I'm that annoyed with my current fridge, and we have a very small kitchen so the door swing opening space is a big issue. I had a Sears once and hated it. We will be refrigerator shopping soon. If you have it, are you happy? What is the best feature? You know when one goes they all go. We replaced our furnace last spring but I won one. Late last fall we replaced the refrigerator and now it is the washer and dryer. I have never had anything but Maytag and have been fully satisfied with each. My current set is 21 yrs old. Maytag, Iowa owned in the past, have had some real problems recently and I am leaning not to purchase another. Energy efficient and reliability is the top requirements Ceres. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT--------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT--------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT--------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE GARDENCHAT
