Could it have to do with the source or location Auralie?
Have you tried different suppliers?
Have you always planted it in same location?
Just thoughts.

Cathy, Clematis 'Niobe' is my husband's favorite (he insists on calling
it Nairobe though he knows better), but for some reason I can't keep it.
I have several other varieties that do quite well, and have for many
years,
but I have lost at least three 'Niobe's. Don't quite understand why. I
