Jim,
I didn't realize smudge pots were so big. In spring when temps can
fluctuate a lot here, I sometimes use oil-filled elctric space heaters
in my old florida room for tender plants I'm holding for our display
gardens. The room is one of those 40 yr old add-ons with removable
windows. So it is just about as cold as outside, but provides some
protection from the wind and somewhat retains the heat from these
electric heaters. Perhaps you could use something like that in your lath
house if you could drape the outsides of it with something.
