As a matter of fact, my garden club, New Horizons, just this week installed a
man (my husband) as president, and another as vice-president. Of course,
none of us is young - the average age of the group is surely past 65 and that
includes the three younger members. I know some garden clubs are very
"backward" in these matters, but not all. Garden clubs are like individuals
- all sorts and kinds. Some are good, some not so good. At least most of
them have people with interest in gardening.
The former Taconic Men's Garden Club here in Westchester County, has taken in
women in the past few years, and dropped the "Men's" from its title. To carry
this a bit farther, the State President of Delaware is a young(er) man.
