Re: starfruit taste
i just went out and picked one because i though i might be able to describe
the taste as i was eating it, but i'm afraid i can't. it is crisp, almost
crunchy, like a good watermelon pickle. it is slightly tart and very
juicy. julia morton wrote: "In Chinese Materia Medica it is stated, 'Its
action is to quench thirst, to increase the salivary secretion, and hence
to allay fever.'"
another bit i learned from morton, is it's native to the subcontinent, sri
lanka and india, but has been cultivated from southern china to australia
for centuries.
