Re: Gene's Catalogue & Hort.net Pictures

You try the real bay, the Greek one. They will grow well in your area and are easy to keep at whatever size you wish, from large shrub to small tree. They also have better flavor than the California bay.

Theresa -- a bay will eventually get humongous -- I mean it will probably

California natives -- I think he has one on shrubs.

Ok- since we are talking about shade-loving shrubs-
I need one that can tolerate dry shade (actually it gets late afternoon
sun). I was considering a California Bay? Suggestions?

Hello Donna,
That one is a toughie..... Only one pick???? there is a sheet of paper
here that is two sided listing of trees and shrubs. Probably be the native
Sambucus pubens, or Red Elderberry. I was not aware of that one... is it a
shade loving shrub and has clusters of bright red berries.
Both JoAn and I liked some of the new Smoke Trees ... such as Day
Dream
Smoketree... Cotinus..
Limelight hydrangea and Endless Summer was in the talk... ones
everyone
has been talking about in the past.
