Hmm-
Interesting thought. I usually do just the opposite, thinking the smaller
plant won't have such a touch time changing homes with the transplant. Ok-
maybe I will try 1 more time.... I think is should be one the the "texas"
varieties though.

Theresa, I read recently, though I don't know where, some tips on
Clematis. The writer stressed as #1, buy the biggest pot (meaning the
most mature) He/she indicated that the older the plant, the more likely
it is to survive - that they can be fragile when young. If you have
trouble with these vines, rather than repeatedly trying $7 starts, it
might be worthwhile to simply invest in one that has already cut its
teeth.
