LOL
Max has been turning into such a crotchety old dog! He's about 10 years old.
He's definitely getting lazy in his old age. He's sweet though. Just not
going after the critters like he used to. When we first moved in almost 6
years ago, he'd practically chase the squirrels up the tree. Now, he doesn't even
give the squirrels a second glance.
Wow, I'd love to get all the critters that you do, Donna. I live in bigtime
suburbia though. I amazed there's been a rabbit in my yard. The only
critters that are common to backyards in my part of Long Island are birds &
squirrels.
Maybe this summer I'll find time to look into the NWF habitat certification.
The new pond I dug last summer should help me qualify. At 6 feet by 10 feet,
with a shallow end designed specifically for the birds to take a bath or
perch on a rock to drink, it is a good water source.

Well tell max to get on it! :)
My rabbits think every new plant is for them to add to the collection of
dinner menu items... not to mention spring time when everything is
coming up. I am also not wild about the heron and egret who thinking my
pond is their fishing hole.....
I guess the problem is you can not be selective when inviting
wildlife... they all seem to wander in here. Besides the normal birds, I
also have snakes, voles, rabbits, deer (thankfully only now when there
is no open water for them anywhere else), skunks, raccoons, mice,
squirrels, chipmunks, quail, pheasants, possums, I also have an owl in
one of my trees, which seems very odd for here. I am waiting for the
bats and eagles to appear soon.... I think it only proves that your
landscape attracts them... cause I am in a small city, most of these
creatures should not be here. Someone let the word out and they all
wandered in here.... unreal, it is like a darn zoo here! I also used to
get coyotes and red foxes, but haven't seen them in awhile. Guessing it
got too populated here for them.
