Once again, this group has motivated me. I have had a Backyard Wildlife
Habitat form filled out for two years ready to be submitted. What was
daunting me was the landscape diagram. This morning I went on line and
completed the application there and was certified, #39126. At last!!!
Years and years ago...I think in the 60s or early 70s, I saved a
National Wildlife Magazine issue that showed how you could take a
residential lot of 1-5 acres and slowly turn it into a habitat. When I
completed the accessment this morning, I was amazed at how much we were
already providing, although my yard doesn't look anywhere as good as
Marge or Gene's.
Unfortunately, a couple of weeks ago, we did have to take down two large
dead trees that provided some bird shelters and food for
woodpeckers...they were just too close to the house...but we have left a
couple of others out on the edges of the property.
And, for those who have mentioned quilting...at last, I am also signed
up for an eight-week hand quilting course, starting next Monday. I can
hardly wait.
Our weather has turned rainy and cold but no snow in the forecast.
