Re: habitat/ponds

The one where the one butterfly Koi is in with some other goldfish, is 17 by
20, 3 foot deep. Unlike Goldfish, Koi will outgrow a pond. They can get to a
couple feet long or more. Mine is about 22 inches and is 3 years old. Got
him as a baby, as a gift. Koi ponds and watergardens are totally different
ball games. For a first time pond, and especially if it is smaller, I'd stick
with Goldfish. They are a lot less finicky, don't require as much space,
aeration, and filtration.
Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

So, Cathy, Donna & Noreen (and everyone on the list who has ponds), how large
are your ponds and do you keep koi? I was going to avoid them until I get
the hang of the pond thing. But I also am concerned that my pond may be a
little small for koi.
