Kitty, after reading everyone's responses, I think that you still have the
perfect right to not want to hug. I've had this discussion with a close
friend before and her answer was that you simply step back and say no, I
don't want a hug (in my case it was No, I don't want you to touch me) but
regardless, if it's someone you don't know and they think you are a B----,
who cares? If it's someone you do know and they know about your "hug thing"
then they are being very inconsiderate when they ignore your dislike of
hugs. I would tell her again, you know how I feel, yet you keep doing it,
what kind of friend are you? I'm getting much more assertive as I
age........
