Gene, I sent you information to the State Federation President, and she has
responded that she likes the idea and has sent it on to the chariman for the
Fall Conference, Carol Anderson. I don't know if this will produce anything,
but we can hope. This new president is a new generation and wants to shake
things up. She is more interested in horticulture than some have been in the
past. Keep your fingers crossed. It would be great to have you at our Fall
Conference meeting. I'd love to meet you, and probably half of my garden
club members might be there too - love to have you meet them.
We are a very special club - all of us specialists in one way or another.
There are only a dozen of us but we include nine nationally accredited
flower show judges, seven past District Directors, one orchid specialist and
past president of the Westchester Orchid Society, one cactus and succulent
specialist, the curator of Wildflower Island at the Teatown Nature Center who
also is an instructor at the New York Botanical Garden. I do not have
academic training in horticulture, but for the past 16 years have been
chairman
of the New York State Horticulture Schools program. We have a new member
who is a Student Judge, a tax lawyer, and has just returned from a trip to ]
England for a special design seminar.
Maybe something will come of this. Who knows.
Auralie
