It's my understanding that the grex isn't recognized by the International
Code of Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants (ICNCP) -- they just drop it.
Orchids have been following their own taxonomic guidelines based on the
Handbook on Orchid Nomenclature and Registration (which includes a grex),
but lately that's been changing and they're being rolled into the ICNCP
after a case by case evaluation.
