Interesting--I though those prototype smog machines had gone away. If they only lose the crop, the crop-insurance cavalry will ride to their rescue; but if they lose the trees, too, man that's a whole different thing.

They did indeed. The nursery where I worked here still uses smudge pots
when frost is threatened. Think California did away with the pots some
years ago, though. Last time I was in the groves out there in winter,
they all seemed to be using overhead sprinklers.
