I'm just now getting to my e-mail, and, Daryl, I want you to know sad I was to read about Rascal's prognosis. You are so right in using the phrase, "as long as he wants to" when it comes to life expectancy. Animals always let you know when it's time. You've certainly given the little man a wonderful life.

I got the Dx from the cardiologist today. Dilated cardiomyopathy of unknown origin, probably congenital. (There are tests to see whether it's from a virus, taurine insufficiency or whatever, but they involve a biopsy and wouldn't tell anything that would help anyway. ) Unusual in a kitten, not much to be done. I told the vet I didn't think there was any point in hurting him more just to be certain. She agreed.I could tell from the look in the tech's face, and when the cardiologist came back into the room, that it was as bad as I feared. We'll start the recommended taurine supplements. The cardiologist said that they'd take 3 months to work, if they did. I asked if he had 3 months. She didn't think so. So we have some meds to reduce the blood pressure, and some extra Lasix to make him more comfortable for as long as he wants to live.d----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynda Young" <lyoung@grindertaber.com>To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Thursday, December 27, 2007 8:32 AM Subject: RE: [CHAT] Rascal UpdateRascal will be in my thoughts - poor baby.
