Can't do it. Once you raise them from a baby - and they look into your eyes...nope, just can't do it. I get too attached to my animals. I would make a lousy pioneer woman. *sighhhhh* On Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 8:27 PM, james singer <inlandjim1@q.com> wrote:That's the best thing to do with them--put them in the freezer. They make good soup, stew, and stock. On Jan 13, 2009, at 6:20 PM, andreah wrote: OK, nobody yell at me when I ask this question. Can't you maybe cook theroosters? or sell them! I know NOTHING about chicken raising. I do know that my Great Aunt Sybil made their rooster into a stew after he spurred me but I was too young to remember that ordeal. I've just been told that story. So,if that is an option I say hatch away! LOL! Last year I raised TWO batches of chicks in mylaundry room. And now - somebody stop me - I'm ready to do another batch this spring because I need more egg layers. I have 8 hens and I have so many orders for eggs that I can't keep up with it all. People want farm, fresh eggs and word got around at my job that I have them. I can barely keep enough for myself! (I have become the "Egg Pimp") The problem withthis is that I have no idea how many hens will hatch, and how many roosters.I don't NEED anymore roosters. "Mr. Mojo" is a handful and I have to puthim in his place on a weekly basis. He doesn't like anybody in there with his "women" and he'll come running at me. I bop him on the head and go onabout my business of feeding - but he tries it again a week later. Goofy rooster. It's expensive to drive to a hatchery to buy pullets - and notsure it's really worth it. One of my young hens is turning into a "brooder" so I know she'll sit on some eggs if I let her. To hatch, or not to hatch...that is the question of the day. On Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 7:52 PM, andreah <andreah@hargray.com> wrote:that was absolutely hilarious!
