pre-nup storage? Makes sense, though I am hoping it's for keeps for you, Theresa.
I'm the conflicted type. I grew up w bath mats made from quilted old bath towels - never discard anything that might have some use. Just about anything has a use and should be used or sold or given. But the older I get, the more I hate clutter - and rented storage is just outa sight/outa mind. Since I have a neighborhood garage sale 2x a year for my plants it's usually pretty easy for me to unload actual garage sale items regularly so there's no huge amount of stuff to get rid of.
First divorce, I left almost everything to my husband. 2nd time, we divied it up. Since then I filled my house and then a few years ago decided to unload superfluous furniture; I like a leaner look. But some of the smaller stuff that adds up like seed-starting supplies, office supplies, craft supplies, etc - it's hard to know when to let go.

Congrats on the new relationship Theresa.... so glad to hear you are happy!Hopefully the new place has a large yard so you design a new garden. The pack rat in me says-- you might want to pack up and rent one of thosestorage place units. I did that twice. The first time I was glad when the relationship didn't work out, I still had all my stuff. The second time itwas a couple of years before we either used the stuff (stuff doesn't lastforever) and ended up buying a get away place in the country and didn't havethe expense of buying stuff. Back then the units were like 15.00 a month, now, I guess the cost would be much more to consider. We installed some cabinets in the "laundry room"- which is really the home office in thishouse- last weekend. What we really need is to put down more plywood in the attic to store stuff. We are getting closer to combining houses, but it isa challenge. Especially since his house is smaller than mine and we are adding my stuff to his. Oh- for those of you who don't know- I moved in with my boyfriend and his now 15 year old daughter a couple of months ago.Very happy : ) But the whole what to move, what to sell, what to give away, and what to store delimma is an ongoing project. I'm now hoping to have myhouse ready to rent in March (my original fantasy was January!!) I feel your pain Chris!
