rain finally quit here (4" since yesterday afternoon) but roads and bridges
are covered in water and will probably freeze over in an hour or so - we're
heading into the mid-20's.  will be doing a lot of reading this weekend I
predict...  at least I can finish up that 3 book Shelby Foote Civil War
history.
